Texas Crown Club Whisky Bread Pudding Recipe
In this recipe, the Texas Crown Club Whisky isn’t cooked or reduced; it’s put right into the sauce that tops everything off. That means, the whisky’s flavor carries over from the bottle to the plate. Serve it for breakfast, brunch, or dessert for a kid (and adult) friendly treat. It also makes for a delicious party food.
Ingredients:
For bread pudding
- 2 beaten eggs
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups milk
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 1 (1 pound) loaf bread, cut into 1-3 inch pieces (French or white bread works best)
- 1 cup chopped pecans
For whisky sauce
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup Texas Crown Club Whisky
Serves: 8
Time: 1½ hours
Step 1 - Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Step 2 - In a large bowl, stir together the eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and milk. Gradually add the white sugar and mix thoroughly until the sugar is dissolved.
Step 3 - Place the bread pieces in the bottom of an oven-safe buttered 9x13” baking dish. You can align them in a spiral shape to make your pudding look especially delicious. Pour the mixture over the bread, making sure the pieces are soaked through. Then, sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
Step 4 - Bake for 60 minutes, or until golden. Meanwhile, combine the whisky, white sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a small saucepan. Warm over low heat, whisking constantly, until the sauce is gently boiling.
Step 5 - Let the bread pudding cool for about 10 minutes or until it’s warm, not hot. Then, pour the Texas Crown Club Whisky sauce on top. Serve warm.
Feel free to drop any additional toppings like raisins, almonds, powdered sugar, or berries on top. Also, serve with ice cream to make it extra special. After serving, you can share this old-fashioned, home-made dessert with your family and friends. You won’t be able to get enough. Enjoy!
