Check out the simple recipes below for a supple whisky butter and sweet whisky syrup that’ll elevate your pancakes or waffles and offer a boozy twist on the traditional breakfast classics. It’s up to you whether you want to let your loved ones in on the secret ingredient. But between us, you’ll never go back to the traditional toppings again.
Whisky Maple Syrup
Inspired by LifeAsAStrawberry
Like its classic counterpart, this whisky maple syrup is sweet and sticky, but with a hint of the smooth taste of Texas Crown. We love the way the barrel-aged flavors combine to take your breakfast plate to the next level. You can even test out this recipe during everyone’s favorite breakfast for dinner meal, use it to spice up your next brunch party, or keep some on hand to indulge in just because. No matter how you use it, this syrup is sure to wow.
Ingredients
In a small saucepan, whisk (see what we did there) all ingredients together and bring them to a simmer over medium-high heat. Whisk occasionally and simmer for 20-25 minutes until syrup has thickened to a likened consistency.
Pour over pancakes or waffles. Drench them, lightly drizzle, it’s up to you. We simply suggest that you serve them immediately.
You can store any leftover syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for several months. The next time you want to jazz up breakfast, just reheat it on the stove and serve warm. You can even add an extra tablespoon or two of Texas Crown–we won’t tell.
